This spring break I went on a cruise. It was a total of five days, two of the days we were just on the sea, and we had two stops, Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. The first full day, we were just at sea. My sister and I spent the day exploring the boat. We spent most of our day in the arcade or on the ropes course. The second day we stopped in Cabo. We got off the boat around 12:00, and we took a smaller boat to the dock since the waters were too shallow for the cruise ship to dock. I saw many whales and dolphins while waiting for the small boat. We paid extra for the day at Cabo because we went to a dolphin swim, where we got to swim with dolphins. The next day, was another day at sea. I looked around most of the shops and just swam in the pool for most of the day. Then, we stopped at Ensenada, however there was nothing we wanted to do so we enjoyed the half-empty cruise. After all those days, we finally docked back where we first left, and we got to head back home.
Rad Reading-March
The book I chose to read this month was If I He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin. In this book, it is told from the main character, Autumn, and it’s about her high school journey with her childhood friend, Finn. It shows all their troubles throughout their friendship and romantic relationship while managing other friends and relationships. As they both moved through school, they slowly drifted apart, hanging out with two different crowds. It wasn’t until later on when Autumn realized she missed Finn, and they worked together to build their relationship back together again. I really liked this book, mostly because of the way Autumn told her story. She really explained the problems she went through, and it was interesting seeing how each little thing plays out. Out of all the characters, my favorite was Autumn. I would say one of her main character traits would be intelligent. One of her quotes say, “Just because something seems impossible doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try.” This line pretty much sums up her entire personality, since she never stops trying until she literally can’t. My favorite quote in the book was, “I wasn’t with Finny on that August night, but my imagination has burned the scene in my mind so that it feels like a memory.” Since this part was in the beginning, I had to finish the book to understand, but this made sense since Autumn wasn’t there but she imagined it.
Dinner Invite
If I hosted a dinner, the first three people I would invite would be Luka Modrić, Jude Bellingham, and Mr Beast. First up, I would invite both Luka Modrić and Jude Bellingham to my dinner so that way after dinner I could have them teach me some tricks or help me improve overall. Since they both play midfielder, and I want to get better at playing midfielder I would ask them to give me more tips on how to play better over on offense. Next, the reason I would invite Mr Beast is because he is well known with other celebrities/influencers, and I would ask to meet some of them, like Chris Hemsworth for example.
Dream Job
If I could choose any job to pursue, I would choose to be a district attorney. I think that this job would be a good fit for me. I enjoy debates and gathering evidence to put together a case. Even though the hours are long, I would get to help put criminals in jail. I also get to investigate allegations of law enforcement misconduct and ultimately bring charges. I feel that I would be great in this certain field of work, since I like organizing information, creating a speech/argument, and presenting the information. This job also comes with benefits, in the United States, the average district attorney makes about $98,000 a year. This job overall is the perfect fit for me, and thats why it’s my dream job.
If I was Invisible
Even though I know this would never happen, I know exactly what I would do if I were invisible for twenty-four hours. I would’ve turned invisible because a magician granted me invisibility for twenty-four hours. The first thing I would do is play pranks on my family. I would bang on my sister’s door, and sneak into her room and start messing it up, since she usually does that to mine. I wouldn’t mess with my parents though, I’d write a note and tell them whats going on so I don’t give them a heart attack. Then, after that, maybe around 10:00am, I’d go to a shopping center, I would ask my mom to drive me. I’d either go to MainPlace or the Irvine Spectrum. I would only steal the stuff I wanted if it was too expensive or I just didn’t want to pay. I’d also go to my favorite food place in the shopping center and I would go behind the counters so I can make my food fresh and exactly how I want it. The last thing I would do would be play small pranks on my friends. I’d trip them, not on concrete, and I would just scare them in general. Like pulling on their hood/backpack, or maybe pushing them out of nowhere. The next day, once I’m visible again, I wouldn’t tell them it was me, I’d just convince them it was something else.
Rad Reading-February
This month I read The Stolen Heir by, Holly Black. This book is the fourth in the series The Cruel Prince and takes place eight years after the third book. After Wren was stolen from the mortal world and taken back with her “true” parents, she runs away again. Years later she is found by the heir to the Elfhame throne, Oak Greenbair, and is taken on a quest to find Oaks adoptive father which was sent to prison eight years prior. I really liked this book overall. There was lots of plot twists, and it also helps solve some unanswered questions from the three other books. I think my favorite character overall was Wren. Overall, throughout the book, I think her main character trait is fierce. In the book, she says, “‘Say nothing until I allow it.’ I tell her.” In this quote, Lady Nore had her tongue cut off, but she secretly fixed it and used a glamour on her. My favorite quote in the book is, “Fear is not love, but it can appear much the same,”. I chose this quote because during the story when this quote was said there was lots of conflict between two characters.
Abandoned Island
If I was on an abandoned island, it would hopefully be a tropical island. I’d hope there would be lots of palm trees and fish in the water nearby. The sand would be a yellow-ish color, and the water would be a clear bright blue. The palm trees would be very, very green, and the other trees would be too. The little fish in the water would be all sorts of color, and a small reef Just off the shore would be visible. I would’ve probably ended up there on accident, like a boat/fishing trip gone wrong. I would choose a spot near the beach, under the shade of some palm trees. I would use the fallen leaves from palm trees and whatever sticks are lying around to make a small hut. I would rip off small pieces of the palm tree leaves to tie together the sticks and leaves for my shelter. To get food, I would make a fishing rod out of sticks to get fish for food, and I would also go into shallow water to grab smaller food, like crabs or small fish. I would have a campfire set up to cook the food that I had caught from the previous day, and so I could stay warm. I would set up small traps throughout the forest area on the island, in hopes to catch a small animal, like a squirrel, or maybe even a bird. Also, while I am on the island, I would try to build a small boat, or even a raft, so I could either leave the island or go out further to catch better food.
Rad Reading-January
This month I read One of us is Lying, by Karen M. McManus. This is the first book to the series of. This book was the one that revealed all the drama the characters had between each other. In this book each chapter is from a different characters point of view, so it helps develop the story better. The four main characters all work together to plan and figure out what/who was behind all the mysteries happening in their small town. I really enjoyed this book, and it was probably my favorite out of the three. Overall, the plot development and character development really helped start the series, I would definitely recommend this book series. My favorite character in this book would be Bronwyn. One of her main character traits would definitely be smart. In the book it says, “Some people are too toxic to live. They just are.” This shows she is smart because she has a deep understanding of life. My favorite quote from the book is, “No matter how awful the rest of my life is, my hair still manage to look good.” This quote is meaningful to me because I personally just found it funny, especially with what the character was going through at the time.
Tournament Penalties
Over winter break, my soccer team joined a two day tournament. We did the Hi 5 tournament, and it was 14U so we played some teams older than us. Our first game we tied 1-1, our second game we won 1-0, and our third game we won 2-0. Our fourth game was the finals game, and by the end, the game had finished tied 0-0, which meant we had to go into penalty kicks, again. One of our previous tournaments we also had to go into penalties, and we won, and we were hoping for the same in this game. We started with the penalty kicks, our first player went up, and sadly, she hit the post. Then the other team went up for kicks, and they totally sent the ball into the sky. Then our other player went, and sadly, we missed again, the score was still 0-0 and everyone was on edge. Eventually, our third player went, when she kicked the ball, it looked like it was gonna hit the top bar, and it did, at just the right angle, and we had scored the first point in penalties, but it wasn’t over yet. Next, our goalie had an amazing save! She went flying towards the ball to catch it. It was now the forth round of penalties, and our fourth player went up. I didn’t even watch it. I closed my eyes and my reaction was based on where the cheers came from. The second I heard cheers all around me I shot up, just in time to see the referee blowing his whistle and pointing towards our side, we had won! We ran towards our player and goalies who defended the goal, and we celebrated our win, again.
Dumbledore’s Quote
One of my personal favorite quotes is from Albus Dumbledore, in Harry Potter, by J.K. Rowling, where he says, ‘“We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy’. To me, I see this quote as saying that the easiest option isn’t always the best or smartest. I can also relate to this quote, because sometimes I don’t always have the most energy or patience, so I tend to choose the easier thing, like the quote says. However, I always eventually look back and realize that I only chose it because it was simple, and not the right one. Also, just because one of the many options you could have is the easiest, it might affect you in your future. For example, maybe your dream job took a lot of work, so you went ahead and worked a simpler job instead. One, you might not like your job and find it boring, and two, you only live once, so why spend a majority of your life doing something you might not even want to do. So in the end, this quote is just reminding people to not always choose the easiest choice.
